Banyan Tree Mayakoba sits inside the Mayakoba private gated community on the outskirts of Playa del Carmen. Characterized by the canal waterways running between the villas, with mangroves on every side, Banyan Tree has a magic jungle light that makes it one of the most photogenic resorts in the Riviera Maya.

The luxury resort is quiet, private, and the grounds are genuinely beautiful: lush tropical greenery, wooden walkways over the water, and a beach that stays calm. For photography it’s a dream: there’s shade when you need it, open light when you don’t, and enough variety in the grounds to move between settings without ever leaving the resort.
